ramayya vastavayya telugu movie review: indiaglitz-2.75/5
The storyline of Ramayya Vastavayya in a convoluted description is here for you. First, a veteran actor is deployed to create a semblance of seriousness. Next, we see NTR trying his best to be ultra-trendy and youthful. Soon, he swoons at the sight of Samantha or Shruti Hassan. Finally, danger after danger come visiting the girl in his life and our very fun-loving lover boy tries his gutsy best to save his heroine from each one. Without a change, one of the girls beseeches him to forget taking revenge. For a change, the hero showcases his 'unique' sense of separation of 'mind vs manasu' and unapolegetically declaims that he always follows the latter.
In telling an outdated and damn predictable story, Harish Shankar S committed one blunder after another. His only trump card was a romantic NTR, who is seen imitating Dev Anand here and Victory Venkatesh there. That is, when the situation doesn't warrant him breaking into a Gabbar Singh-kinda dance as his dost successfully steals Samantha's diary, or indulging in a panegyric on his own history of record-breaking (apparently, he broke all the extant records when he was wearing kickers and also holds the world record of massacring with designer swords, courtesy Rajmaouli, Vinayak and Boyapati).
The film begins in Coorg, Karnataka, where Mukesh Rishi's elder daughter is being betrothed to a joker. Rishi receives a threat call from two youngsters who warn him that he will be killed within 1 hour and, losing no time and using no brain, Rishi leaves for the IG's office. After a failed attack on him, we see his family praying for the one saviour. Cut to some place in undivided Andhra Pradesh, NTR is seen enacting his late thata's best known monologue. Predictably, a fight with an "original gadha" and a hero-oriented song follow. Follows Samantha, Illayaraja classics (why blaspheme classics in a way that they look like parodies?), a duet..
But no, the hero has more to him. His intelligence levels are so high that he knows the difference between the sweat born of tension and the tears born of pain, can sing an emotion-laden song with a sparkle on his face to a glam doll who maintains that I-am-being-pampered expression when she is supposed to display agony following her father's death. The whole idea looks weird.
Don't think that Ramayya Vastavayya is all about the hero effortlessly playing with the "original gadha" and the hockey stick while beating the baddies to pulp. Rao Ramesh as a CBI officer is stupid enough to shoot at the hero's vehicle's window pane, while the hero targets the bullet at the opponent's vehicle's tyre. Additionally, we have Nagineedu as NTR's kind-hearted grandpa. When he is not trying to smile like Mahatma Gandhi, the grandpa is seen displaying his Adityapuram patriotism. The whole family yearns to either visit the Promised Land of Adityapuram or have a kodalu from that land. Harish Shankar thought that deifying a village where Activist Ammulu Papa (Shruthi Hassan) lives a warrior's life will lend a new feel to a story that is liberally borrowed from Vinayak, Boyapati and God-knows-which-all-sacred-dudes.
We have a swashbuckling womanizer to add to our monumental woes. Ravi Shankar (unfortunately, this under-utilized actor is better known as Sai Kumar's brother) lusts India's most fashion-conscious activist and, thanks to Dil Raju's large-heartedness, visits Shruthi's house by travelling in a convoy. Everything about Ramayya.. is a bit over.
The worst aspect is the bloodshed, which, a Boyapati might want to say, is actually less! The climax is unnecessarily a bit of Prakash Jha.
NTR's energetic performance and vintage dance moves are a treat to watch. He is full of verve and with better comedy situations, he might have fared even better. For a revenge drama, the dialogue have life in the comedy scenes but not when the villains are around.
Samantha and Shruthi are seen in their most forgettable roles. Rohini Hattangadi as the shape-conscious bhama-cum-baby shines briefly. Rao Ramesh is OK. Ravi Shankar is menacing and looks atavistic enough to do the role.
Technically, Thaman's music passes muster. The cinematography is apt.
Verdict: A paper-thin storyline is the least of Ramayya's imperfections. Too much violence in the second half rips it of entertainment value.

ramayya vastavayya telugu movie review: telugu mirchi - 4.45/5
Commercial movies are the flavour of the season. It doesn’t matter what’s the story or whether there is novelty in the story. Producers are only focusing on whether there are enough commercially attractive elements to make it a success. These rules are applied with great dedication if its a star hero flick. The moment star hero comes into picture, hero’s image and fans expectations become the prime factors to be considered. Producers have come to a conclusion that if fans like it, then movie will become hit. As a result they are making movies according to the expectations of fans and filling it up with elements which will give kick for the fans. Ramayya Vasthavayya exactly falls in this category. It has been made keeping in view NTR’s star image and massive fan following. Let’s see to what extent Ramayya vasthavayya makers succeeded in this effort. Let’s find out whether NTR will be able to pull it off with his magic.
Ramu (NTR) is a college student. He is a happy go lucky guy who is more involved in street fights than in studies. He falls in Akarsha’s (Samantha) love and tries hard to impress her but without result. At last Akarsha accepts Ramu’s love. But there is a secret behind wooing Akarsha. It has to be seen on screen. How Ramu and Akarsha are related to Ammulu (Shruthi Hasan) is the twist which attracts in second half.
Ramayya vasthavayya story has all commercial elements. Besides to these commercially viable elements, twists are the main strength. Though story is normal, twists make it interesting. First half runs jollily. NTR’s introduction, college scenes, Samantha teasing scenes, are all enjoyable. Story runs with songs, fights, entertainment mixed in equal proportions. Twist before interval increases expectations about second half.
This type of movies depend on second half to a great extent. But director faltered here. He did not have enough substance to run movie after revealing twists in the second half. He has once again banked on Gabbar Singh’s Anthyakshari batch and Venky type of comedy. As result second half runs with tempo falling and rising occasionally. After Ammulu’s entry, movie once again gains josh. The story and emotions behind Ammulu character are the prime strengths of RV movie. Movie ends with high octane action scenes in the climax.
NTR is the main highlight and sole asset of the movie. He has exhibited all his talent in the movie and took complete responsibility in taking it forward. Right from fights, dances, dialogues to matured and emotional performance, to experimenting a bit with teasing scenes, NTR has single handedly shouldered Ramayya Vasthavayya movie. He has excelled in emotional scenes during the later stages of the film. Also NTR appeared very handsome in this flick. Nandamuri Young tiger has once again proved that he is a performer par excellence. He is the oxygen for this movie. Samantha as usually appeared beautiful. Chota captured the beauty of Sam much beautifully. Shruthi Hasan’s is a small role but very important role. Others like Mukesh Rishi and Ravishankar are ok.
The whole movie rests on a small twist. NTR is not just a star but also a good actor. He can easily make a movie super hit even if story is normal. But that does not mean that a star can pull off any sort of story. Harish Shankar impressed in first half. But second half dulls a bit. For all those who say that Gabbar Singh was hit because of Pawan Kalyan and not because of Harish Shankar, this movie will add strength to their argument.
Thaman’s music is ok. ‘Jabili nuvve cheppama’ song is picturised extremely well. Chota’s cinematography deserves praise. Second half should have been trimmed. Harish is known for one line dialogues . But he hasn’t done much in this flick. He could have made better use of a star like NTR who has excellent dialogue delivery. This is a normal story. NTR’s magic is the main asset. NTR fans will be impressed. As this is Dussera season and there are no other competing movies Ramayya Vasthavayya may smile through its way.

Nandu[NTR] is a happy go brainy college lad, Fall-In-Love with Akarsha[Samantha] at first sight. Nandu uses his naughtyness, intelligence, pull all strings to make Akarsha accept his love. Love couple Nandu & Akarsha make a trip to native for Akarsha's sister marriage, Where her father & Industrialist[Mukhesh Rushi] gets killed.
Special investigation officer[Rao Ramesh] take-up the murder case... In a twist finds out Nandu aka Ramu as murderer. Ramu manages to slip investigation officer and plan to kill up-coming politician and son[Ravi Shankar] of Central Minister [Kota Srinivasa Rao].
Who is Ramu? What does he got to do with Akarsha's Father? Why Ramu should morph himself as Nandu? How does this whole episode relates to Central Ministers family? Finally does Akarsha agree to pair with her father murderer? Are to be seen on silver screen.

Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao[NTR] is the name of masses, there may not be any other hero who have gotten such a huge mass appeal as NTR was able to secure. Ramayya Vasthavayya let you witness his Gracefull dance moments, Powerful dialogues, Ease of acting yet again one more time.
With Cute & Handsome looks as College guy, Lover Boy, Witty comedy sequences... NTR has also exhibited his ability to entertain Class audience as well. As Easy going naughty boy, Young man with social sense, Lover boy NTR has done justice to the role given.
Samantha looked alright as lead-actress next to NTR. Her performance in naughty scenes as well as in emotional sequences is alright. In Ramayya Vasthavayya Sams exposed herself a lot in the couple of duet songs.
Its typical role for Shruti Haasan and she did alright in the charecter - but could not match-up to the grace... Screen presence of Young Tiger,You wouldn't stop imagining another actress such as Kajal or so in that role. New voice over to Shruti doesn't suite well.
Though it is brief... Ravi Shankar is okay in his baddie character. Harish provided some good oneliners to Ravi Shankar’s character. Mukesh Rishi did another usual role of serious villain. His character much needed make over. Tanikella Bharini is good as father of Shruti Haasan. Nothing much to say about rest of the characters.

Story of Ramayya Vasthavayya is in very old format. A happy go lucky trying to take revenge on the goons who killed his love. We've seen and heard this story several times, haven't we!! And yet Ramayya Vasthavayya manages to impress momentarily, but where it fails is in engaging on the whole due to its extended screenplay, which clocks almost three hours. Screenplay in the film is very predictable.
Story started to be youthful one - Morphed itself into family entertainer - Takes turn as Old-Revenge story and eventually ends with social message... OMG: Too many turns and shades forcibly injected into one movie. Dialogues in the film are mediocre. Few dialogues leave their mark as. Jeetham thesukunnevadu Jeevitham em kapaduthadu, Manishini kshaminche vadu devudu mathrame... Nenu devudini kadhu kshaminchadam raadhu..etc.
Music by S.S. Thaman is alright for songs.. Some of the tunes sounds redundant to other Telugu & Hindi songs though. Thaman BG Score for Ramayya Vasthavayya could have been lot better... especially using the same tune for more than half dozen times with Samantha, Another tune with Sruthi Hassan repeatedly test your patience. However BG score used while having Villain in scene is brilliant.
Cinematography by Chota.K.Naidu is top-notch in Ramyya Vasthavayya as he successfully translates the beauty of locations onto the big screen. Also, Chota was offered awesome art work support, which is worth applauding. Fights in the film are alright... especially few fights with serious action yet combined with witty comedy is good to see on screen. Visual Effects[CG] works in the film are dull. Production values by Sri venkateshwara Creations are good.
Direction by Harish Shankar is disappointing. Harish is one director who can brilliantly mix comedy with mass elements... Gabbarsingh, Mirapakai are true examples, When NTR was introduced with witty comedy expressions - combined with muscular fights and punch dialogues.. Everyone was surprised a bit because it is first of its time for NTR to try something like so. As the scenes proceed in the first-half crowd started enjoying the whole new treatment, but suddenly Harish changed his route towards interval bang and since then he lost complete control on the film and yet no time it would be seen as Harish Shankar film... He couldn't capitalize on his true strengths and also support offered by Young Tiger

If you are so eagerly waiting to see Ramayya Vasthavayya, don't worry. You've already seen this movie presented elsewhere just with different leads in the movies like Bunny, Rachcha, Aadhi & Samba. Most of the times... You already know what every scene means and what's going to come next. So when the music tells you what to feel, it is just Harish Shankar condescending to the viewers.
The characters feel only a little bit of everything. They are never able to exceed feeling and touch of emotion. Even after entire movie completion... You will be puzzled about multiple questions such as Why the sequences between NTR-Sams need to be so heart touching especially when Nandu charecter knows what to come? Why the blocks between Ammulu-Ram are so artificial when this is so real?It would also be disappointing to see not much role to play for rest of the charecters and it is only NTR trying to shoulder movie but the story plot do not let him do so.
Be it gang of friends, family members, Villains... none of them were able to live upto NTR stature, Not because they do not but the charecterization doesn't have scope. The crew is at it like routine. The film's biggest letdown is its 1990's story & dragged narration that never wants to end. And when it is finally about reach its end... we were tortured with an additional song. The only hope is Little entertainment, Few family elements in the first-half, and NTR overall. Ramayya Vasthavayya is not so easy to sit through until and unless you are a big time movie buff or fan of Nandamuri clain.

ramayya vastavayya telugu moview review: fullhyderbad : 5/10
There is a dangerous trend in the Telugu film industry which causes people to refer to movies as "full meals for fans". When a movie is called this, it generally means that the hero strikes twice the usual number of poses and enacts a large number of crowd-pleasing antics in the movie for no rhyme or reason. These are also movies that are solely aimed at the fans of the various stars on the horizon. And considering the fact that there are so few superstars for our sizeable population, movies do well even if only the fans like them.
When measured by this yardstick, Ramaiya Vastavaiya will lead to healthy burps from most of the fans, with a few of them perhaps also collapsing due to over-eating. But when measured by any other yardstick - creativity, originality, subtlety or any such actual movie-making attribute - the general audience will emerge starved and dehydrated, probably on the verge of collapse due to a total lack of these factors.
Ramayya Vastavayya stars Jr. NTR in his 10,458th revenge drama. His character this time around is called Nandu, and he plays a (surprise, surprise) student. Except that he is not seen in college even once in the entire movie. The story is divided distinctly into two halves, and follows the template as strictly as possible.
The first half, like in 10,450 of NTR's movies, consists of Nandu leading a happy-go-lucky lifestyle, falling in love with the heroine Akarsha (Samantha), eve-teasing her until she reciprocates, and an interval bang with him hacking about 50 people to death.
The second half almost immediately plunges into a flashback, which features our hero in an extremely loving family (the moment you see all the laughing faces pampering him, you know they are up for slaughter), another heroine Ammulu (Shruti Hassan) whom he falls in love with and gets his big family to accept, a big massacre with the villains killing 50 people and hero killing twice the number with only him and the main villain escaping unscathed, a prompt return to the present, and the final showdown where good (the hero who kills roughly 300-400 people in the movie) man vanquishes the villain (who hardly manages to hurt the hero's family). Of course, with 2-3 songs added to the mix.
At the end of this film, too, we wonder what makes our heroes take up these projects. Ramayya Vastavayya is like just about every other movie NTR's done - Aadi, Samba and Narasimhudu feature pretty much exactly the same plot.
NTR tries his hand at comedy with a fair amount of success, emotes pretty well, dances like a dream (though the dances look repetitive by the final song), and fights as ridiculously as the stunt masters tell him to. He has also gone back to his lean look, and this movie definitely features him at his best in his now-thin, now-fat career.
Samantha and Shruti Hassan are perfect fillers and hardly have roles worth mentioning. The appeal of Chinmayi's voice for Samantha is also wearing off. The other actors - and there are a lot of them - all go through the motions.
Harish Shankar does a lazy job with Ramaiya Vastavaiya. Showing Rohini Hattangadi as a granny who exercises listening to Sheela Ki Jawaani and whose phone ringtone is Gangnam Style is seriously not funny. The punchlines are all there, but the situations in which they are used take the punch out of them. And with so many complaints about the way we glorify eve-teasing in our movies, is it really necessary to show the hero pursue the heroine in such a manner?
Thaman scores his same old music. It is cacophonic and leaves you with a splitting headache.
There is only so much gore that you can take, so much violence that you can tolerate, and so many hacked limbs and bodies that you can see without gagging. Ramaiya Vastavaiya crosses those limits comfortably. And a running time of 166 minutes means this Rammayya overstays his welcome. Go by all means if you are a fanboy, but for better results, spend the long weekend at home.

Ramayya Vastavayya Story: Nandu (NTR) is a student who track down Akarsha( Samantha) and kills her father. Things turn around when nandu reveals his flashback. The movie deals with the relation between Akshara’s father and NTR, And the reason behind killing.
Analysis: A complete mass entertainer with blood spilling fights and outstanding dance moves. It’s a very well known story line for Telugu audience, still Harish Shankar Added some salt and pepper and presented it. First half was completely focused on cool establishment of protagonist whereas second half has some extraordinary blood spilling fights. Harish Shankar slogged hard to show NTR in a new way. Prolly that didn’t work out pretty well. Sentiment scenes made audience to stick on to their respective seats. Comedy part is very poor but director satisfied audience with few laughing tidbits. .
Teluguone Perspective: NTR looks very stylish and smart enough. He has tried a new mannerism in the movie compared to his previous works. Of course, there is no need to mention about his dance. it is good but it seems somewhere he lost his grace. Director gave a kick start introduction to NTR by giving him Sr. NTR’s ‘Emantivi Emantivi’ dialogue. And the result is, a hall full of whistles and claps. Director made it with complete commercial elements which really can grab mass audience easily.
Performances: NTR simply rocked theater with his striking performance. The dialogues, dance, fights are undoubtedly awesome. Samantha is cute and she did her usual performance. Ravishankar’s performance is damn amazing. Rao Ramesh and Kota srinivas Rao’s roles are admirable. And rest of all did justice to their characters.
Technicalities: First of all, Chota K Naidu’s camera work is fantastic. BGM gave some boosting to the movie. Editing is fine.
Positives: Fights
Dance
Music
Dialogues
NTR’s Performance
Negatives: Comedy
Known Story line
RR
Final Word: A full packed Mass entertainer. Worth watchable for a single time

It has a simple and racy narration and some interesting twists and turns make the audience glued to the screens right from the beginning till the end. Harish has a complete grip over the happenings on the screen.
The film opens with a scene of attempt to assassinate Samantha 's father Mukesh Rishi and then heads to introduction of Junior NTR's role, which is sure to rock the viewers. The first half of the film is quite entertaining with lot of romantic, comedy, fight and dance sequences. What strikes you the most is NTR's comedy timing. The second half is also very interesting. The climax is a little predictable, but you will enjoy it.
